Irving – Little Gem
Originally published under the pseudonym Geoffrey Crayon in 1822, this series of character sketches describe the occupants of an English manor. Irving is credited with having perfected the short story form, and is best known for his short stories “Rip Van Winkle” and “Legend of Sleepy Hollow.”
