This particular vintage cloth-bound volume with an elaborate gilt pictorial design to its front board is titled “The Unknown Quantity” by Henry Van Dyke. Van Dyke was an American author, educator and clergyman, born in 1852 in Germantown, Pennsylvania. He taught famed travel writer Richard Halliburton at Princeton.
